Farm and Barn Wedding Restroom Checklist for the Shenandoah Valley
Farm and barn venues across Frederick, Clarke, Warren and Fauquier counties rarely have enough indoor bathrooms for a full guest list. Use this checklist before you book restrooms.

Does a farm wedding need a restroom trailer?
A farm wedding needs a restroom trailer when guests expect flushing toilets, the event runs five hours or more, or many guests are older. Casual and daytime farm weddings can use standard or flushing VIP units instead. Most farm weddings of 100 to 150 guests choose a 2- to 4-stall trailer.
What does the site need for a restroom trailer?
The site needs level, firm ground about 10 by 20 feet, a route wide enough for a pickup and trailer, and a standard outdoor outlet within about 100 feet. Soft pasture after rain can stop the trailer, so pick a gravel pad, a barn apron or a mowed lane edge.

What else belongs on the checklist?
The checklist also includes 1 wheelchair-accessible unit near the trailer, 1 standard unit for catering and band staff, a hand-wash station near the food tent, lighting on the path, and a Friday delivery with Monday pickup so nothing arrives during the ceremony.
- Trailer sized to guests and bar
- 1 ADA unit (trailers have steps)
- 1 staff unit near the kitchen tent
- Hand-wash station by food
- Path lighting after sunset
- Friday drop, Monday pickup
Why not just use the farmhouse bathrooms?
Farmhouse bathrooms are on a septic system sized for one family. A crowd of 120 guests can overload it and back it up mid-reception. Portable restrooms protect the host's septic and keep lines short, which is why most Shenandoah Valley farm venues require them.
